Wrapping cloth

In Japan, objects are traditionally carried around in a makeshift bag formed from a sheet of cloth, known as furoshiki. Guests are invited to use these cloths to carry their belongings around the premises.

KAI Kinugawa is located in Tochigi, a region of rich mountain soil and beautiful rivers that produce plenty of high-quality vegetables, fruit, and fish. These fresh, local ingredients are arranged into kaiseki feasts for both the eye and the palate, such as in the "Dragon Hot Pot" made with prawn and beef loin heated by an 800℃ stone.


Dinners consist of multi-course kaiseki meals that include visually pleasing dishes made with seasonal ingredients. Guests may choose between standard and special.


A Japanese-style meal featuring the Tochigi speciality "Shimotsukare", a dish made from finely grated rainbow trout, vegetables, and soy beans cooked in miso, as well as an array of side dishes and pickles. Enjoy the charms of this culinary culture with tableware made from the craft traditions of Mashiko ceramics pottery and kanuma kumiko word ornamentation.

Hot spring

Both the indoor baths and outdoor baths offer expansive views of forests and gardens that sport different colors throughout the year, from pink cherry blossoms in the spring to vivid greens in the summer, vibrant colors in the fall, and snowscapes in the winter.

Yuagari Lounge

Cold seasonal drinks and frozen treats are some of the complimentary refreshments offered at this lounge, which looks out onto a bamboo garden. Guests are invited to cool off here after a bath.
